Today DPD released Stadium District Study Recommendations and the Duwamish M/IC Policy and Land Use Study. We are interested in your feedback about our ideas because in early 2014 the City Council will consider whether to make policy changes to the Comprehensive Plan based on our recommendations and your feedback. We will be taking comments through December 2, 2013.
The Stadium District Study recommends establishing a new Stadium District neighborhood. Our goals include: creating a stronger, more vibrant neighborhood; preserving industry in the Duwamish manufacturing and industrial center; improving pedestrian, bicycle and transit connections, strengthening beneficial relationships with other neighborhoods and capitalizing on sustainability opportunities among stadiums. The Duwamish M/IC Policy and Land Use Study recommends that the area remain a vital Industrial Center. Our goals are to: strengthen the long-term viability of the MIC; Protect industry and port operations; reinforce the MIC as a place designated for industry and to coordinate with the Seattle Industrial Areas Freight Access Project being conducted by SDOT.
